Criminology and Criminal Justice B.A.


Criminology and Criminal Justice Major

The B.A. Criminology and Criminal Justice major requires a minimum of 120 total hours to graduate. This total includes UNIFI/General Education requirements and the following specified major requirements, plus electives to complete the minimum of 120 hours. 

In order to graduate with a major in Criminology, students must take at least 15 credit hours of CRIM Prefix Upper Division (3000/4000-level) courses at UNI.

PSYCH 3003 is a 4-hour course. PSYCH 3003 has the following prerequisites: PSYCH 1001; PSYCH 3002; one college-level mathematics course or consent of instructor.

A student who takes both CRIM 3555 and CRIM 3575 may count one course as a Professional Development Elective and the other course as a Criminal Justice Elective. Students seeking this option may need to file an Academic Student Request form with the Registrar's office for the second course to appear correctly in their degree audit.

Some of the elective classes on this list have prerequisites outside of the Criminology and Criminal Justice Program. Students will be expected to complete the required prerequisites before enrolling in a course with a prerequisite. 

Note: Students majoring in criminology should take CRIM 2022 and CRIM 2025 before taking any 3000/4000-level courses within the major.

Graduation note: In order to graduate with a major in criminology, students must achieve a total major GPA of at least 2.0.
